I . Amount
$1000.00 dollars (Non-Renewable) but applicant can re-apply.
II. Qualifications:
a. Senior, currently enrolled in High School or enrolled at an accredited college,
university or community college.
b. 'B' (3.0) grade average or better in High School.
c. Intended major/concentration in any General Studies.
d. Relative of any Detroit Area Steelheader or sponsored by a Detroit Area
Steelheader.
III. Additional Considerations:
a. A short (one page or 500 words) essay regarding why the applicant should receive
this scholarship.
b. Leadership: Involvement in any High School clubs or activities.
IV. Application Deadline:
August 1st
V. Scholarship Award:
Award will be presented at the August General Membership Meeting of the
Detroit Area Steelheaders. The awardee and their High School will also be
notified by phone prior to the meeting. The awardee is expected to be at this
meeting to accept the award(and a promotional copy of the check) and present a brief speech of acceptance.
VI. Application Procedure:
Fill out the online application form (see downloads below) and e-mail to
rk-das@detroitsteelheaders.com by the above deadline. If the applicant cannot
email the application and/or has other key material they wish the Scholarship Committee to
review, please contact the Scholarship Committee at the e-mail address listed above.
VII. Payment:
Payment will be made by check to the college of the applicant's choice upon submission of documentation verifying passing grades for the semester/term in college and a tuition or book receipt.
VIII. Conditional:
a. The Detroit Area Steelheaders reserve the right to award the scholarship to another
qualified alternate upon presentation of their passing grades and a tuition or book
receipt, if the original awarded applicant does not use the scholarship or does not
meet other qualifications for the award. The alternate will be selected and contacted
by the Detroit Area Steelheaders Scholarship Committee.
b. Awarding of this check is at the sole discretion of the Detroit Area Steelheaders Scholarship Committee.
